"I'm so stoked I can't believe it," said an elated Rebecca Jury from Wellington on Tuesday morning.
The first-year Bachelor of Design student at Massey University in Wellington was named as a member in the Wellington NPC netball team on Monday night.
Rebecca said the trials were sheer hard work.
She also has a cold and was feeling under par, and her university work was full-on this week.
Rebecca said her inclusion in the team and her university studies meant a lot of hard work was ahead of her, but she would keep going.
"We go to the nationals in Palmerston North at the end of September, but we've got lots of other tournaments before then."
Rebecca has not met the team yet and does not know what position she will play, but she trialled at goal attack.
"The trials were very hard. The first Sunday was three hours, then last Thursday another two hours, and on Sunday four hours."
"We had lots of fitness testing and mine is average because of my cold."
Rebecca will play at goal attack or goal shoot and will practice once a week with her new team.
The six-foot tall Stratford woman attended Stratford High School from 2001-2005 and played in the Taranaki under-19s netball squad last year.
* Rebecca received the Stratford Press Young Achiever of the Month Award in May last year.
*She represented Central Taranaki during 1999 and 2000.
* In 2004, Rebecca played A-grade secondary netball for the Stratford Rugby and Sports Club and made the Taranaki under-17 development squad.
