Fitting seven mountains on a single stage is no mean feat, but is something Cynthia Kowalewski and her talented team of colleagues and students have achieved to make their stage production of Taranaki's Battle a feast for both the eyes and the ears.
Cynthia, a teacher at Inglewood Primary School and the director of this school production, says students have been "really enthusiastic and committed to getting the production perfect", since they began casting and rehearsals late last term.
With a total cast of 320, it has taken a lot of lunchtime rehearsals to get the show ready for the public.
"Students have worked on all aspects of the show, from costumes and scenery to the musical numbers performed throughout. Cast member Emma Mahoney, who plays Mount Taranaki, has really enjoyed being part of the process, from the audition through to learning her lines and being part of bringing the story to life.
"The 13-year-old thinks all students should have a go at being in a school play, 'get out there, and be proud of yourself and see what happens'."
