Taranaki's pre-season match against Hawke's Bay on Saturday gave the Taranaki players a taste for winning with their impressive 36-25 win over the visiting side.
While neither side featured any Super Rugby players, the crowd still got a great game to watch, with Taranaki dominating the first half and leading 22-11 at the break.
Hawke's Bay fought back in the second half but were no match for the Taranaki players who scored a total of six tries to the visiting team's three.
Taranaki play Waikato next week and then face Auckland on August 7 at Tikorangi.
