Stratford councillors heard how an extra croquet lawn could mean more croquet tournaments in town.
Eileen Judd, president of the Stratford Croquet Club, spoke on behalf of the club during last week's public forum at the council meeting.
Eileen asked councillors to consider letting the croquet club extend the facilities from two to three lawns. She said the Stratford croquet club belongs to the South Taranaki Croquet Association, which has three member clubs. The other clubs are Hāwera, which has three lawns, and Hāwera park which has four lawns.
"If we had three lawns we could host tournaments where we compete against Wairarapa, Wanganui, Manawatū and New Plymouth. At the moment all these tournaments are at Hāwera or Hāwera park.
"We are asked to host NZ events where we don't have enough lawns for the amount of people wanting to participate. If we had another lawn it would help considerably as we could then have more competitions."
