"We've heard so many great things about the work of the Rural Support Trust, many of our members have had dealings with them one way or another, so we knew they were a group we wanted to support."
Barbara Bisley is one of the nearly 6000 members of Farming Mums NZ, a Facebook-based online discussion group where farming mums can share all sorts from recipes to questions and concerns to jokes with others who share the common ground of farming life.
As previously reported in the Stratford Press some of the Taranaki-based members got together and published a calendar featuring themselves in a variety of rural locations around Taranaki. When it came to deciding on what to do with the funds raised, the decision was simple says Barbara.
"The Rural Support Trust does such a great job. We knew donating the money to them would help make a real difference to the lives of rural people in our area."
Barbara and Darryn Moeller, another member of the group, met with Mike Green, chair of the Taranaki Rural Support Trust and Marcia Paurini, the co-ordinator for the Taranaki trust, to hand over the proceeds from the calendar sales.
