A body found in Stratford last night will be officially identified tomorrow after police have been able to contact next of kin who are overseas.
Detective Inspector Marc Hercock, the officer in charge of the investigation, says that the body was found by friends of the victim.
One of the friends, who declined to be named, says they were searching for their friend as he had been missing for a few days.
He adds that the police will make an appeal tomorrow to members of the public about specific dates and places of interest to their inquiries, however, at this point, the death does not appear to be suspicious.
The body was found near Page Street by the Patea river near King Edward Park and the Olympus Gym at around half past ten on Tuesday night.
