The Agecare Central Board welcomed four new board members, John Campbell, Trish Jamieson, Marilyn Walsh and Dave Rogers at the board meeting on Friday afternoon.
Chairman Peter McDonald says, "Agecare Central is now 100 per cent community owned and with the new team we are entering a very exciting phase".
Earlier this year Agecare Central officially purchased all the shares held by the Taranaki Electricity Trust (TET) in the Maryann complex in Stratford. Which Peter says means the whole outfit; two rest homes, hospital, dementia unit, retirement village and community care, are entirely community owned as Marire owns the shares in Agecare Central
"It is such a fantastic opportunity to look after the elderly members of our community and keep them here in Stratford as well as create almost 100 employment opportunities in our community."
Peter says that the board is looking forward to getting the community involved in Agecare Central and says there are plenty of roles within the organisation outside being a board member.
