Looking out of her kitchen window just after 9pm on Sunday June 3, hot cup of coffee in hand, Ann Gordon noticed six white lights high in the sky.
Her first thought was that it is an aircraft, but being white and not flickering, she dismissed the idea and went outside for a better look. She also dismissed that it could be from a man-made structure as it was too high up.
``I thought it might be lights bouncing off the clouds, but I have never seen it before and also not after. I also thought it might be part of some celebration, but I phoned a friend the next morning who lives in the area where I noticed the lights and she was unaware of any and had also not seen the lights,'' she told the Stratford Press last week. She quickly added that she is not a UFO nut, but that she neither dismisses the idea that we ``might not be alone''.
``I remembered I had my camera inside and grabbed it to photograph the lights. I first thought it is just six lights hovering, but looking at the photos afterward I noticed three more and also that it must have been moving. I had my camera on continuous shooting and the objects moved in the frame.''
She says she has exhausted possible explanations, but that she believes there could still be another explanation than `green men visiting'. The Airways Corporation, which monitors all New Zealand air traffic, says they have received no other calls regarding lights over Stratford and that they can not shed light on the matter.
