The event’s main fight is the Pro-Box New Zealand women’s heavyweight title fight between Maria Hunt and Sequita Hemingway.
“Bringing a fight like this to Stratford is exciting. Sequita is the defending champion and Maria has been putting in the hard yards to get in this position. Maria is travelling up from Wellington and Sequita from Palmerston North.”
Returning to the event is the fan-voting option, he said, with people able to vote on their favourite fighter of the match in real time using an online voting system.
“The crowd enjoyed this last time so we’re bringing it back.”
Local Barbwire Fight Club boxer Bobby Katene will be in the ring again, said Langton.
“He will be fighting Minisita Saufoi. These guys are, without a doubt, the next up-and-coming fighters in the country. They’ll be fighting for $2500 prize money.”
With tickets selling fast, Langton said it’s important to book sooner rather than later.
“It’s going to be a good one.”
