Senior sergeant, Colin Wright, said the man driving the ute was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
"The ambulance guys said it was serious but it did not appear to be life threatening," Mr Wright said.
Mr Hanne said the ute driver broke through the fence on the left-hand side of the road.
"There were tools scattered all over the paddock but luckily there was no one else in the car with him.
"He seemed to have a few broken bones but was just conscious when we saw him," Mr Hanne said.
The road remained open with police signalling traffic to pass with care.
Mr Wright said police will investigate the crash before deciding if charges would follow.
