The Stratford Trots took place on Saturday, and was a great day out for all, says Michelle Campbell of the Stratford Trotting Club.
Local trainer and club president Davey Jones enjoyed good results on the day, with two starts on the day.
His mare six-year-old Secretofthesea Smile was beaten by a length by Jour Higness in the R Vossler / Commercial Hotel Handicap Trot in the first race of the day. Davey was happy with the placing and decided to leave her in for another race which she won by leading start to finish.
The third race of the day was a win for charity as well as the driver, as it was won by a member of Team Teal.
Team Teal is a promotion for Women's Cancer Foundation running until March 10 for all female drivers across New Zealand and Australia. They race in teal coloured driving pants, striving to be the first across the line to secure a $200 donation from Harness Racing NZ, $100 donation from Woodlands Stud and a $100 from the Stratford club.
