Long serving Jersey man honoured
After nineteen years as secretary of the Kaponga and Kaponga/Stratford Jersey Cattle Clubs Mr. Ivan Wright relinquished his secretarial duties recently.
Ivan received life membership at the Kaponga/Stratford Jersey Club's annual dinner recently for his long years of services rendered.
Ivan has been a wonderful ambassador for the purebred Jersey society over the years, helping young people gain knowledge in handling and parading Jersey cattle in the show ring.
He's been an avid leader in many ring craft events for junior members who have been blessed by Ivan's expertise in this field.
While farming, he owned the Boomerang Jersey stud and donated calves to the junior members' camp days to promote the Jersey breed.
Ivan has been a judge and classifier (pure bred Jersey society) and a showman in his own right.
Since his dispersal of his Boomerang stud in 2003 many of his cattle have won championships and also have classified to 95 points.
Ivan's involvement with the Jersey breed has not gone unnoticed and we all have appreciated his time in the Jersey world; his resignation as secretary is very much regretted by everyone.
However, we all wish him well in his future interests and hope his move to Bell Block be a truly successful one.
