Students from schools throughout the district entered in the 25th annual Methanex Maths Spectacular last month.
A high quality of work was produced with a wide range of local students recieving prizes and being acknowledged in their respective catergories.
There are over 12 categories for students to enter in, which range from poetry and creative writing to maths in the energy industry. Teams from schools also have the opportunity to be involved in mathematic quiz nights.
Eleni Pickering-Gibbs, from St Mary's Diocesan School, recieved first place in the Central Design for Next Year category for Year 10 students.
Eleni says her inspiration for the project came from her dinning room table. "While I was sitting at the dining table, which is always covered in stuff, I had an idea about creating a design set out as if it was a desk covered in mathematical objects and the letters made out of household items."
