Grandparents back to school

There were plenty of grandparents in the classrooms at St Joseph's School on Friday, as the school held its annual Grandparents Day.

Grandparents, and "grandfriends" were invited to spend the day with their young family members, sharing in their learning and exploring the school.

Emma Zieltjes says she enjoyed showing her grandparents, Helen and Frank, around her school and showing them her school work.

Helen says it was a great opportunity to see what Emma and her friends are up to in class, and she and Frank loved "the special letter to grandparents" that Emma had written.

Emma's classmate, Tommi Hjorring, was excited to show his grandparents, Heather and Peter Hjorring, around his school as they had come all the way from Whangaparoa for the event.

"We both were teachers before we retired, so it is wonderful to be able to come into the school and put names to faces of teachers and friends that Tommi tells us about," Heather says. She thought the whole day was an enjoyable experience.
