Students at Stratford Primary School gave Andrea Smith, the land liason manager for TAG Oil, a glimpse of the future when she visited their school last week. The school has benefitted from a $5000 donation from TAG Oil which was used to purchase equipment to help them learn about robotics.
Tracy White, senior leader and teacher for Years 7 and 8, says that the students are loving learning about programming and robotics.
"It is educational but also great as a reward system, so it works as a hook into learning for some students who have struggled to find an interest before."
Andrea says that TAG Oil was delighted to be able to provide some funds for the project, "a lot of the work we do is focused in the Stratford area so this was a great opportunity to get involved".
She adds that TAG Oil particularly liked the links with education and technology. "Obviously we are always interested in technology and where that can take us in the future, so seeing young people being able to learn skills that will take them into careers in technology is really rewarding and exciting."
