US Ambassador to New Zealand Scott Brown said the town had put on a "pretty cool" display for Americarna last week.
The ambassador, who lives in Lower Hutt, had come to Taranaki for the American car-themed event.
Travelling with his wife Gail, and Americarna event director John Rae to Stratford and Hāwera on Friday, the ambassador enjoyed a lunch at Colonel Malone's with Stratford mayor Neil Volzke.
He said he was enjoying visiting Taranaki for the first time, and was impressed with how the towns had embraced Americarna.
"In Stratford, it's great seeing all the flags and everyone out in the street enjoying the cars, but for me, I am particularly enjoying the juxtaposition of the American cars against the backdrop of Shakespeare."
