Fire brigade called out to fire at marae

The Stratford volunteer fire brigade was called out this afternoon to a scrub fire in a piece of land next to Whakaahurangi Marae on Celia Street.
Speaking at the scene, a member of the brigade said a couple of people at the marae had seen the fire and began trying to put it out while they waited for the fire brigade to arrive.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this point.
