Hiring staff can be a daunting thought for farmers, but a Taranaki Federated Farmers employment seminar is hoping to put employers' minds at ease.
Presented by Govett Quilliam, the seminar will cover off fair pay, holiday pay, the 90-day trial and more.
Taranaki Federated Farmers sharemilker chair Matthew Herbert said the seminar will be employment 101 and focus on the basics.
"There will be a lot of expertise in the room," he said. "As well as covering off employment law, we will also have options on Pay Roll systems, so it will be a one-stop-shop." Federated Farmers partner Pay Sauce will be offering some insight into the best options for logging staff hours, IRD requirements and payment systems.
"It's imperative that employers know the ins and outs of their employment contracts," Mr Herbert said. "They should be a living document that they refer to regularly. "The days of verbal agreements are gone, they just won't stand up anymore."
