Duck calling competition a success

11-year-old Oli Hall hides out in the maimai ready to try out his duck calling at the New Commercial Hotel's duck-calling contest on Sunday. Hidden in the maimai erected specially for the occasion, each competitor gave their best call for the judges. Oli, the youngest competitior, is an experienced duck hunter, going out with his Dad each year. To his delight, he won a caller on the day. The other winners were: Andrew Bevins 1, Jarrod Bevins 2, Dan Simpson 3. Most improved: Shane Bellamy.
