"Get involved" was the message from the recipients of the this year's Stratford District Council Citizens Awards when they received their awards last Wednesday evening.
Family was also a focal point for the three community stalwarts - Les Bayly, David Brunton and Gloria Webby - as each said they would not have been able to be so involved in the community had they not had the support from their loved ones.
Mayor Neil Volzke welcomed guests to the council chamber, which was overflowing with family members and well-wishers.
Rugby stalwart Les, at 88, is the oldest person to have received an award in their 23 years.
The mayor said, "listening to his achievements, you probably aren't wondering why he was nominated but why he wasn't nominated before".
