The Arthur family isn't just about repairing your vehicle, their experience also allows them to re-create what once was. Custom and Classic Bodies Limited can be found just before Toko and since January, have been restoring,
panelling and repairing cars.
Ross and Lisa moved to Toko five years ago and built a workshop in January, which allowed Ross' father, Ken, to fly over from the UK and share his knowledge with his son by opening a business.
Ross is a mechanical engineer by trade and Ken has worked in the industry for around 40 years.
``It's fascinating and so rewarding. You can stand back and say `I did that'. You have something to show for your day's work,'' says Ross.
Ross enjoys that he can carry on the family trade.
``We've got a family foundation now and we can build on that.''
Ross chose to set up shop in Toko because they had the land there to do so.
``Living in a place like Toko ... it's beautiful.''
The family's workshop policy is hospitality. They invite you for a cup of tea or coffee and to come see first hand what work they do.
``We offer country hospitality,'' says Ross.
Being a custom and classic car business, some of the cars they work on are beauties. A 1906 Arrol-Johnston is currently being worked on, using wooden frames to keep its olden day look. It is only one of two in the world and has come all the way from Scotland. ``It's absolutely fascinating seeing things like this,'' Ross says. ``This
is where my heart lies.''
They work with steel, aluminium, wood and even copper. They also carry out small maintenance and
benchwork jobs including stainless steel welding and fabrication.
