Pupils at Eltham school are appealing for members of the community to come and share their love of reading with them.
Principal Kathryn Pick says they are trying to show the children that reading is cool, and isn't just something you do in school time.
"We are asking people who have different jobs or roles in the community to come in and read two short chapters from our current reading book to our senior syndicate children, so the pupils can see that police officers, journalists, councillors, farm workers, truck drivers, engineers, etc, all enjoy reading."
The book being read is Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate DiCamillo, a popular children's book about a young girl and her dog, learning about friendship.
Kathryn says the group of children to be read to are aged between 9 and 13, and says they are looking forward to sharing their class reader with a range of people.
