Students at the Pacific International Hotel Management School (PIHMS) in Bell Block are celebrating the start of spring with an explosion of colour.
Inspired by the traditional festival of Holi in India and is also sometimes known as the festival of love, 11 PIHMS students in the final semester of their hospitality and tourism degree are hosting World of Colours on Saturday.
The event will be dominated by the throwing of coloured powders, leaving festival goers covered in a rainbow of colours as they enjoy food, music, activites including tug of war games and a slip and slide.
Coloured powder will be on sale ready to be thrown and is completely biodegradeable. The event is alcohol free and fun for the whole family.
The event organisers say they are grateful to their primary sponsor, Cafe Turkey, along with other sponsors The Edge FM, New Plymouth Taxis, PIHMS, TSB Bank, AET and Naki Mart for enabling the event. For Cafe Turkey the event marks an exciting move into event catering and sponsorship, which has seen them also sign up for sponsoring the skate competition held at the NZ Arts and Tattoo festival held later this year.
