The best of New Zealand's off-road competitors will race into Taranaki later this month for the 2015 New Zealand ATV (all terrain vehicle) Championships.
The popular Barrett Road Motorcycle Park facility on the outskirts of New Plymouth has been chosen to host the two-day racing competition on November 14 and 15.
Stratford brothers Camo and Scott Keegan have their sights set on Christchurch's Ian Ffitch, who will be trying to defend his open class title at the competition.
The racing is set to put competitors to the test with an extremely challenging track being prepared for the event. Camo says the ATV Nationals draw in about 80 competitors from around the country and the Barrett Road track has a range of skyward launch jumps, "which make for a more exciting race".
"It is going to be a difficult track for some riders," says event organiser Jono Keegan. "It will be okay for the top guys, but some of the riders won't be so confident on the steep up-hills, down-hills and the big jumps."
