With work on the Midhirst water treatment plant almost complete, Stratford District Council director of assets Sven Hanne says the changeover to the new plant will take place on Saturday, August 2.
On this date, the old plant - originally built to serve the Midhirst dairy factory - will be decommissioned and the water supply for Midhirst will start being sourced from the new plant.
The changeover will take a few hours to complete meaning residents should plan to be without water between 10am and 4pm that day.
Sven advises residents to plan ahead, "make sure the jug is filled up and you don't have washing machines or dishwashers set to run during that time".
The new plant has cost "about" $300,000 with the Health Ministry contributing about half.
