New Zealand scored another bronze medal on day five of the Youth Olympic Games in China yesterday.
Swimming
New Zealand flagbearer Gabrielle Fa'amausili, 14, Auckland, followed her fellow 14-year-old teammate Bobbi Gichard, Hawkes Bay, on to the podium. Fa'amausili, from the Roskill club in Auckland, won the bronze medal in the 50m backstroke in 28.69s. Gichard earlier won bronze in the 100m backstroke.
Golf
It was the third and last round of their respective competitions for golfers Julianne Alvarez, 18, Lower Hutt, and Nick Coxon, 18, Hamilton. Alvarez finished 7th, and Coxon finished 14th.
