Emirates Team New Zealand is disappointed with its second place in the inaugural season of the America's Cup World Series.
Battling a series of mishaps at the final Newport, Rhode Island, regatta, and an indifferent performance in the triple points fleet race, the team held its place on the leaderboard.
But it was a disappointing end to the Newport regatta. After injuries to two members of the front-line AC45 sailing crew - Bowman Winston Macfarlane returned to Auckland after injuring a shoulder in practice and trimmer James Dagg collided with tactician Ray Davie's elbow - the team yesterday looked like it was coming right.
With a third and a first in the two fleet races, the team was feeling more confident. But the performance today, not helped by another broken dagger board lifting pole, was indifferent.
Skipper Dean Barker said: "We had our opportunities but did not capitalise on them. We have no excuses. We did not do well enough on the day."
