Yachting: North Shore to stage 420 world champs

New Zealand will host the 2007 420 world yachting championships.

North Shore was awarded the championship and though dates have yet to be confirmed, organisers say January will be the ideal time.

The 2008 Tornado world championship will also be staged at North Shore.

Both bids were supported strongly by the North Shore City Council who sent a representative, Paul Dunphy, to both the 2005 Tornado worlds and 2005 420 worlds in Europe to help secure the championships for New Zealand.
