Team New Zealand experienced a mixed first day on the latest leg of the Extreme 40 sailing series in Turkey to lie fifth overall.
The Team New Zealand crew of Dean Barker, Glenn Ashby, James Dagg and Jeremy Lomas won the second race of the seven-race schedule off Istanbul, but also managed to finish last in race five to end with 45 points for the day, seven points behind leaders Sweden's Artemis Racing.
Only 11 points separate the top eight teams after the opening day of the five-day regatta.
