New Zealand sailor Michael Bullot has secured a silver medal at the Laser world championship in Canada.
He improved one place overall on the last day of competition in the Olympic class at Halifax today to finish behind Briton Paul Goodison.
Goodison completed the 10-race programme on 24.5 points, followed by Bullot on 31 and another Briton, Nick Thompson, on 35.
Bullot rounded out the championship with sixth and eighth placings in the final two races to better his previous best overall result in the championship which was a fifth placing in 2008.
He bounded into medal contention yesterday after improving from 18th place with a race win, a third and a fourth.
It continued a strong season for the Murrays Bay Sailing Club member after he won silver medals at Kiel Week in Germany in June and at Princess Sofia in Spain in April.
Josh Junior was the next best placed New Zealander in 11th place.
