Auckland yachtie Carl Evans has secured the P-Class double winning both the Tanner and Tauranga Cups sailed off the coast of New Plymouth.
The 15 year-old won the Interprovincial Tanner Cup last week and yesterday won the Tauranga Cup, won all seven races before the last two were abandoned yesterday due to strong winds.
Susannah Pyatt of Murrays Bay won the girls Naomi James Trophy and finished fourth overall in the open fleet. The Tauranga Cup was first held in 1940. Previous winners include America's Cup sailors Chris Dickson, Dean Barker and Russell Coutts.
