Bad weather in Spain today again stalled the start of the final regatta in the MedCup series, increasing Team New Zealand's chances of walking away with the championship.
For a second day in a row at Cartagena, competition was postponed because of inconsistent winds.
With just three days left in the regatta schedule and Team NZ holding a huge 52-point lead from the four previous events, the main interest is who will finish runners-up in the fleet of TP52s.
Argentina's Matador hold second spot in the standings, five points ahead of American entry Quantum Racing and Swedish yacht Artemis.
Team NZ boss and mastman Grant Dalton said race officials had made the right decision with their postponements over the past two days.
"They couldn't have raced," he said.
"They took it to right to the edge."
While the situation might be favourable to Team NZ, Dalton said that wasn't the way skipper Dean Barker and his crew wanted to win the series.
He added that there was still the chance of nine races going ahead over the remainder of the regatta and the forecast for tomorrow was good.
"But this is yacht racing," he said.
"This happens and all you can say is that the race committee has got a spot on."
