New Zealand sailor Tom Ashley relinquished the lead but remains prominently placed at the men's RS:X world championship at Kerteminde, Denmark.
The reigning Olympic Games champion was off his top game as he finished 18th and second in the day's two races to slip to second equal alongside Poland's Poitr Mysaka.
They both trail Dutchman Dorian Van Rijsselberge in the 111-strong fleet after six races.
Another New Zealander, Jon-Paul Tobin, remains in medals contention in fourth overall after posting second and 17th placings to and sit just two points behind Ashley.
Kate Ellingham is the best placed New Zealander in a 66-strong women's championship, ending the third day of competition in 36th place, with Stefanie Williams one place back, Natalia Kosinka 43rd and Alice Monk 48th.
