ABN Amro 1 can now claim an impressive five wins out of six in the 2006 Volvo Ocean Race.
They have taken out the 400 nautical mile leg from Annapolis to New York overnight, battling into a 25-knot gale for most of the trip.
New Zealand skipper Mike Sanderson says they pushed the boat to the limit in the sprint leg, but they "got it there in one piece" so they are lucky.
He says it was stressful and pretty wet and wild, having to push the boat upwind.
The win extends ABN Amro 1's lead over the fleet to over 20 points.
There are three legs to go including a trans-Atlantic crossing.
