ABN Amro Two has broken the world speed record for monohulls over a 24-hour period, clocking up 563 nautical miles in the second leg of the round-the-world yacht race from Cape Town to Melbourne.
The record was held by the syndicate's sister ship ABN Amro One, which last night had a 232 nautical mile lead over ABN Amro Two. Pirates of the Caribbean was third, 321 miles behind. ABN Amro One was 2796 miles from Melbourne.
