Mike Sanderson's ABN Amro One has edged past Paul Cayard's Black Pearl and into the lead as the fleet lays the next mark to Cape Horn in the fourth leg of the round-the-world race up to Rio de Janeiro.
The six-boat fleet is continuing on a southeasterly course.
Last night ABN Amro One, the most southerly boat, had a two nautical mile lead over Cayard's Pirates of the Caribbean, while movistar was a further six miles back.
The leaders are still 4077 miles from the finish and are not expected to reach Rio de Janeiro until March 11.
