New Zealanders have helped set a new round-the-world sailing record.
American adventurer Steve Fossett has smashed the mark in his 38-metre maxi-catamaran Cheyenne.
Fossett finished the circumnavigation off Brittany this morning in 58 days, nine hours, 32 minutes and 45 seconds, although that time is still subject to official verification.
If confirmed, it would slash close to six days off the old mark set by Frenchman Bruno Peyron in 2002.
Fossett's crew included two New Zealanders, Mike Beasley and Fraser Brown.
Cheyenne was built in Auckland at Cookson Boats.
