Jonny Wilkinson has been confirmed in the Lions team for the DHL tour.
Coach Sir Clive Woodward has confirmed Wilkinson will be on the tour, saying the famous first five-eighths has come through a couple of key games for his Newcastle club game, proving his fitness.
Wilkinson was a stand out performer on Monday morning (NZT) for Newcastle in a game against Gloucester, although Newcastle lost.
English commentator Miles Harrison says the loss has robbed Wilkinson of another much needed game.
Harrison says with Newcastle bowing out of the wildcard tournament, Wilkinson will not have a game next weekend, but at least has the chance to play for the Lions against Argentina in Cardiff before the team leaves.
Wilkinson originally missed selection after a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a string of injuries.
The Lions squad assembles next Tuesday.
