A kiwi gold medal weightlifter is being remembered for his huge comeback at the 1974 Commonwealth Games.
Graham May died from a heart condition yesterday. He was just 55.
The Champion weightlifter won gold at the 1974 Christchurch Commonwealth Games, lifting a combined weight of 342-point-five kilos.
His friend and former training partner, Tony Ebert said it would be the drama surrounding the win which would stick in people's minds.
He said people would not forget the lift prior to the gold medal when May dropped his weights, causing them to tumble down the Town Hall.
Mr Ebert said he would be speaking at Graham's funeral about his friend's sporting life.
