The New Zealand women's team were relegated to the playoff for 11th and 12th position following a 4-5 loss to Cuba at the world waterpolo championships in Montreal today (NZ time).
Both sides were locked at 2-all at halftime, but Cuba broke away early after the break with two quick goals.
New Zealand replied twice to level again, but Cuba scored with under two minutes remaining to seal the win.
New Zealand now meet Spain in a playoff for 11th and 12th position.
