A stalwart of the national water polo scene in the 1960s and 1970s, Bryan (Buck) Hazlett, has died in Wellington after a long illness, New Zealand Water Polo said yesterday.
Hazlett started playing water polo for the Navy in the Auckland senior competition, the organisation said in a tribute on its website.
He left the Navy in 1969, and played for Wharenui and Canterbury for several years. He also coached successful Maranui teams and later managed the NZ women's team.
