The New Zealand women's team missed out on a quarterfinal place at the world water polo championship in Montreal after losing 2-1 to Germany today.
New Zealand captain Anna Sieprath scored in the first attack of the game to give New Zealand a 1-0 advantage.
The Germans however came back to score the winner when New Zealand lost the ball on a counter attack.
In other games today Italy, the United States, Greece and Brazil all made it through to the quarterfinals with comprehensive wins.
