Water polo: Marist capture fourth title

Marist won their fourth consecutive national women's water polo title by beating Maranui 11-9 in extra time in Auckland yesterday.

Marist moved out to a 5-2 lead at halftime but conceded three quick goals to the Wellington club after the break and even trailed with less than three minutes remaining.

However, the defending champions bounced back to 8-8 with just 1min remaining courtesy of Lauren Sieprath to force extra time.

Two Lisa Van Raalte goals and another to Sarah Pattison pushed Marist clear.
