The Blue Jays and Rangers brawled in the eighth inning of their MLB game this morning (NZT) after Jose Bautista went in to second base hard on a takeout slide.
After he was nudged by Rangers pitcher Matt Bush at the beginning of the inning, Bautista made his slide into second very late, hitting the legs of Rougned Odor.
Odor then punched Bautista in the face, igniting a brawl that cleared the benches immediately. Bautista was found to be in violation of the league's new takeout slide rule, meaning a double play occurred as a result.
Bautista, Odor and Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson were ejected, along with a slew of coaches and players. Manager John Gibbons actually ran out on the field after he was ejected earlier in the game.
