A spectacular crash has marred one of the support races at the ITM Auckland SuperSprint as a car rolled numerous times and flipped over the safety fence.
Thankfully there were no spectators at that part of the circuit and driver Michael Scott walked from the car uninjured.
The incident happened with a couple of laps remaining in the Toyota 86 series race when Scott made contact with another car, flipped over and catapulted across a sand trap, up and over the high safety fence.
The race was immediately red-flagged and safety crews raced to the stricken Toyota. Scott climbed out of the car moments later and waived to the crowd to show he was alright.
Track crew repaired the damaged segment of fencing.
