Dangling over the side of a yacht racing at 20 knots is just part of a days work for Aussie Volvo Ocean race sailor Kyle Langford.
The Team Brunel trimmer had to carry out running repairs to the yacht's rudder after it struck something on leg nine of the race from Newport (USA) to Cardiff (Wales).
The collision, which happened during the night, broke Team Brunel's tiller arm and the damage to the rudder was not apparent until daylight.
A chunk had been taken out of the rudder and Langford was hoisted overboard as the yacht heeled over, still racing at 20 knots, so the leading edge could be sanded.
Team Brunel, with Kiwi Peter Burling at the helm, is among the leaders of this leg of the race.
