The New Zealand men opened their campaign in style with a 25-21 25-17 25-17 win based around strong blocking and Fijian service errors.
Leading the way for the hosts was Benjamin Glue with 12 points, eight kill spikes and four blocks.
New Zealand were to face Tonga tonight in a clash of unbeaten teams after Tonga beat Samoa 3-0 in the other opening-round men's match.
The unbeaten New Zealand women weren't challenged until the final set in their 25-15 25-16 25-21 of Fiji.
Their final game is against Tonga on Thursday, with the Tongans losing their first match 3-0 to Samoa last night.
Victory would see New Zealand qualify for the next round of the 2010 world championship qualifying process, in Kazakhstan in June.
