The 21-16, 21-18 defeat of Joao Maia and Luis Brenha gives the New Zealanders a good opportunity to advance to the elimination rounds. Maia and Brenha have previously beaten the Japanese team of Katsuhiro Shiratori and Kentaro Asahi, who Pitman and Lochhead will play today.
