This weekend's race in the 2016 NASCAR Sprint Cup has been given an unusual title, thanks to the sponsorship of children's television network Nickelodeon.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 400 will take place at Chicagoland Speedway this Monday (NZT), with 400-mile race taking the name of the popular childrens animated television show that first aired in 1987.
"We are excited to partner with Chicagoland Speedway to continue sponsoring and participating in marquee racing events that resonate with motorsports fans across the country," said Anthony DiCosmo, Senior Vice President, Sports Marketing and Development, Nickelodeon.
NASCAR star Danica Patrick promoted the event in April by unveiling her April O'Neil/Nature's Bakery Chevrolet SS with a special Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles paint scheme at Wrigley Square in Millennium Park in Chicago.
This is not the first time a NASCAR race title has been inspired by a Nickelodeon cartoon, with the SpongeBob SquarePants 400 taking place in May last year at Kansas Speedway.
