UFC: Jose Aldo reveals the 'true' Conor McGregor behind the cameras

It was the fight that stopped the world.

Conor McGregor dropped Jose Aldo in a record 13 seconds after months of hype, trash-talking and debauchery led the two to the octogan to battle at UFC 194.

McGregor's taunting was arguably the kryptonite to Aldo's psyche, ribbing him with jeers like "little Brazilian" and famously stealing his featherweight belt at a pre-fight press conference after claiming it was rightfully his.

It's no question that in front of the cameras, McGregor is the baddest man in the game - but what does Jose Aldo think of the firey Irishman's display in front of the media?

The Brazilian fighter revealed on national television that the real McGregor is a completely different person to his world-renowned "bad-boy" persona.

"He's a normal guy, easy-going, but he sees a camera or some Irish fans nearby and he transforms. He sees a little camera or some Irish people, and the guy changes in such a way that you think: "son of a b****," Aldo told Portal Do Vale Tudo.

"Most of the time that people see him, there's someone filming so we had to keep it (the charade) going. However, when there are no cameras, the guy changes completely."

"The relationship is friendly, easy-going. For me, I don't see any problem in how the guy does his marketing, and looking at the financial side, it was really good. I think we need to have more fighters like him in the featherweight division, it would be really lucrative."

Aldo even recalled a few instances where the two had even sat down for coffee and joked like schoolyard chums.

"Sometimes you play the jokes and he is laughing. There was one day we sat and he said to get coffee, and I said I wanted sugar, and he answered (with something) like: 'good'," he said.

Aldo was quick to correct himself, saying that their relationship didn't span much further than an occasional run-in.

"I'm not his friend, he does things one way, I do them another," he said.

Aldo's confessions aren't the only evidence that McGregor has a softer side.

His long-standing relationship with girlfriend Dee Devlin is proof the featherweight champ may just be a big old sweetheart, tributing her on his usually playboy-esque Instagram account.

"My girlfriend has been there since the start. She has helped me throughout this career," he said.

"If It wasn't for her, I probably wouldn't be where I am today."

Details about his extravagant after party at Encore Beach Club in Las Vegas emerged in a video resembling a rap film clip, suggesting Aldo's claims of a "quiet" McGregor only applied to him on certain occasions.

McGregor's next match is still undecided after his blockbuster win over Nate Diaz at UFC 202 earned him a well-earned respite.

If one thing is for certain, Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor won't be sitting down for a coffee together any time soon.
